Joaquim is head of tax in the Portuguese practice of Grant Thornton.

Experience
Joaquim has over 25 years experience in all areas of Portuguese and international taxation and specialises in direct and indirect tax.

Joaquim started the Grant Thornton tax practice in Portugal leading the firm to be one of the top six leading tax advisers in Portugal.

He has considerable experience in cross border issues and in tax planning on company incorporation, mergers and acquisitions and in establishing businesses in Portugal.

He also has experience in transfer pricing and VAT advisory services particularly in planning for VAT transactions, with a keen interest in consultancy for real estate and tourist activities in Portugal.

Professional qualifications and memberships
Joaquim is a graduate in business administration from the Technical University of Lisbon.

He is also a member of the Chamber of Statutory Official Accountants, as well as a member of the Grant Thornton European tax committee and the European VAT Group, which includes VAT specialists from Grant Thornton member firms across Europe.

Languages spoken
Joaquim is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
