Maria is head of specialist advisory services at Grant Thornton in Portugal.

Experience
Maria joined Grant Thornton in 1998 to lead the specialist advisory service practice with special relevance in business valuations, strategy business planning, project finance, acquisitions and feasibility studies.

Maria has more than twenty years experience in corporate finance and recovery and reorganisation work services.

Her key assignments include:

• reorganisation of construction firms and FMCG
• several restructuring projects in medium sized companies
• advisory of a large number of companies after reorganisation 
• advisory in several M&A projects

Maria is also very experienced in valuation services with assignments on a large number of public companies and in the banking, insurance and chemical industries among others.

Business experience
Maria's client portfolio covers FMCG, manufacturing, services, distribution, hotel and tourism activity. With substantial project involvement in marinas, hotels and resorts giving her a wealth of experience in these industries.

Maria has also been engaged with the internationalisation of the Portuguese textile and construction materials industries.

Professional qualifications and memberships
Maria is a graduate of economics from the Technical University of Lisbon.

She is also a member of the Portuguese Economists Association.

Languages spoken
Maria is fluent in both Portuguese and English.
